About the Event
Current or recently expired Adopt-A-Stream volunteers are invited to PART ONE of this re-certification workshop for Chemical Water Quality Monitoring!
Registration is limited so RSVP as soon as possible. Also, be sure to:
- RSVP for PART TWO of this re-certification event in addition to RSVPing to this event. PART TWO of this workshop is facilitating the lab portion and taking the re-certification exam, which will be done in person on October 3rd at 9:00 AM at Sidney Lanier Park (1 Conservation Way, Brunswick, GA 31520). You must participate in both the virtual classroom and the lab event to be able to receive your re-certification.
- If your availability changes, let us know as soon as possible so that we can open up the slot for another volunteer.
- This is a re-certification workshop only, if you are not currently a certified volunteer you will not be able to attend.
The Chemical Monitoring workshop is designed to teach volunteers about basic stream water chemistry and how to conduct chemical tests using hand-held field equipment. The basic set of tests that volunteers are asked to conduct includes dissolved oxygen, conductivity, pH, and temperature. Advanced tests may include alkalinity, phosphate, and nitrate-nitrogen.
