The Georgia Environmental Protection Division recently announced plans to modify the Hercules/Pinova Hazardous Waste Facility Permit to include planned cleanup activities at the site.
A public hearing will be held on September 29th, 2022 from 6:30 to 9 PM at the College of Coastal Georgia's Stembler Theatre. Public hearings are organized to gather public opinions and concerns before an agency or organization makes a decision on a proposed action. This event provides an opportunity for residents to share their opinions and concerns about the proposed and ongoing cleanup plans at the Hercules/Pinova site. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division is required to provide an opportunity for public comment before finalizing its decision to modify the permit. The public comment period began on August 31st, 2022, and ends on November 1st, 2022. The state invites comments to be submitted in writing during this time. All comments received on or before November 1, 2022, will be considered when the final decision to modify the permit is made.
