About the Event
IMPORTANT UPDATE: This event has been postponed until further notice in light of Hurricane Ian. We will post new dates as soon as we are informed of them.
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division recently announced plans to modify the Hercules/Pinova Hazardous Waste Facility Permit to include planned cleanup activities at the site.
An availability session, or open house, will be held on September 29th, 2022 from 3 to 5 PM at the College of Coastal Georgia's Stembler Theatre. This event will assist residents in learning more about proposed and ongoing cleanup plans. To see the campus map, visit https://www.ccga.edu/uploaded/images/maps/CCGACampusMap.pdf.
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division is required to provide an opportunity for public comment before finalizing its decision to modify the permit. The public comment period began on August 31st, 2022, and ends on November 1st, 2022. The state invites comments to be submitted in writing during this time. All comments received on or before November 1, 2022, will be considered when the final decision to modify the permit is made.
Additional information on how interested residents can submit comments will be available on the Glynn Environmental Coalition website soon (glynnenvironmental.org/actnow).
