About the Event
Georgia WAND is a grassroots organization, led by black women, working to bridge the rural/urban divide, advance self-determination, educate stakeholders, and develop leaders in front-line communities located downstream & downwind from the nuclear weapons and energy industries. Georgia WAND staff from Waynesboro and Atlanta will be joining us to share information about how the Savannah River Site nuclear weapons complex (SRS) is expanding its nuclear weapons activities; what the relationship is between SRS, the expansion of nuclear power Plant Vogtle, and what's happening in Camden County; and how Georgia WAND is addressing generations of systemic racism, misogyny, and environmental injustices related to the nuclear industry by advancing their Nuclear Harm Reduction model.
