More information: The Glynn Environmental Coalition was founded in 1990 by a group of concerned citizens wanting to know how our community became so polluted, why we continue to have health-threatening pollution, and how an action plan could be developed to clean it up. The need is great in Georgia's coast, with 4 nationally and 12 state designated wastes sites in Glynn County alone, and the persistent and constant threats to the health of our environment from human activities including rouge development, mining operations, offshore oil and gas exploration, and poor decision making by local, state, and federal agencies and authorities. Since our organizations inception the Glynn Environmental Coalition has worked to engage and empower citizens in protecting and restoring the natural environment around them. We act as a resource for our community, providing explanations of technical details regarding environmental cleanups and provide the tools our citizens need to be the change they wish to see in our community. Our extensive accomplishments over the past 30 years have been achieved only through our communities willingness to persist with us. 2020 will hold challenges, some ongoing from past years and others arising when least expected. We hope you will join us in protecting what we love, our Georgia coast
