Buy
Dry Campaign Kicks Off
|
|
| |
The "Buy Dry" campaign
kicked off on November 18, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Bamboo Farm in
Savannah.
A
reasonable estimate is that some 2,000 acres of freshwater wetlands have
been filled and developed in the past five years - just within the six
coastal counties of Georgia.
Environmental organizations in Georgia realized there is a need to educate
home buyers about the potential for flooding of homes built in wetlands. In
addition, the filling of wetlands is causing flooding of established
residential areas due to the blockage of natural wetland drain ways.
